Wesley Matthews added 20 points for the Jazz, who are tied for third in the Western Conference and are just a half-game behind idle Denver for first in the Northwest Division.

Carlos Boozer donated 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Paul Millsap tallied 15 points, 12 boards, six assists and five steals. C.J. Miles chipped in 14 points for Utah, which was without center Mehmet Okur due to a left Achilles' tendon strain.

Darren Collison finished with 28 points and seven assists for the Hornets, who have dropped five in a row. David West tallied 19 points, while Marcus Thornton added 15 points and seven assists in defeat.

Ahead 64-58 in the early stages of the third, Utah went on an 18-3 run to gain some breathing room. Williams tallied 12 points during the stretch, which Millsap capped with a deuce to make it 82-61 with 5:45 left.

The Hornets scored the final seven points of the period to cut the gap to 89-75 heading to the fourth.

New Orleans was within five, 101-96, on a Thornton deuce with over four minutes remaining in the game. However, Utah responded with a 13-4 spurt to seal the victory. The Jazz made a trio of three-pointers during the flurry to take a 114-100 lead.

The Jazz led 32-30 after 12 minutes and held a 60-55 margin at the half.
